Willie Fernie v Hugh Kirkcaldy 1891 "Open" Champion Golf Match published by G.Rome-Innes, Chemist, Lossiemouth. This is one of those cards where the players are not actually named on the card, but it looks as though the original sender lived in the area or was at the Match, as they have made a correction with regard to which Green is shown on the card as well as writing the players names on the reverse side, they have also initialled & dated the card. These are the kind of cards the experienced collector is always on the lookout for, as there are many cards which also have well know celebrities featured which are not actually named on the card, I have a number of these listed on the site. The card is in FINE Posted (1906) condition. Quite often you can find a reference to these matches in A  Golf Clubs History if they have published one. Stotfield is also known as Lossiemouth or Moray Golf Club.  Scarce Card. I do not think the second player is  Hugh Kircaldy, it could have possibly his Brother Andrew, my reason for saying this is that  Hugh Kirkcaldy Won the "Open" in 1891 but died of Tuberculosis 7 years later.  I currently have another card from this series listed.                                          Ref.457
