Ganton Golf Links, Near Scarborough C.1903 published by The North Eastern Railway Co.Ltd. Card No.13 this is one of 2 Ganton cards from the series/set, the other shows the Golf Pavilion. One of the finest inland Golf Courses in England, among many Tournaments Ganton hosted the 1949 Ryder Cup Matches when the great Ben Hogan captained the USA team whilst recovering from his almost fatal car crash in February of that year & also the Curtis (Ladies)  Walker Cup. The card is in Near MINT posted  condition. Being a Railway Co.PC it has an Alsop number, Ne-013-1 which is written in pencil, every Railway Co.card has one of these. The Club was Founded in 1891, the original course was laid out by Tom Chisholm os St Andrews with assistance from Robert Bird the Clubs Professional/ Greenkeeper, they did both jobs in those early days. Later improvements were carried out by Willie Dunn, Harry Vardon, James Braid & Harry Shapland Colt.
