Manufactured/Publshed by Chilton Co.Philadelphia.,PA.,U.S.A. card number 15.Harry Vardon played many Challenge matches in America in the very early 1900s as he toured the Country,this was how the top Professional's made a living in between competing in Major Championships etc.This card came up for auction at Mullocks  Auction House,Ludlow,Shropshire on 14.7.2015,The following is from the description of the item from the catalogue,the card shows Harry Vardon playing a better ball match against two transplanted Brits,Finlay S.Douglas 1898 U S Amateur Champion & Herbert.M.Harriman 1899 U.S Amateur Champion, the match was played in front of 2000 spectators with Vardon winning 9&8. Over a six month period, Vardon played 65 Exhibition matches, winning 50, having 13 & losing 2.The card sold for £132.00 inc buyers premium. It goes onto say an Identical card sold for £240.00 in Mullocks 2014 October auction.
